Workshop Series to Strengthen Diaspora & Homeland Partnerships

You are invited to join these workshops designed to strengthen partnerships between diaspora donors and their homeland organizations.   Sharpen your skills and grow your organization; learn about the power of partnerships and community building; leverage more funds.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN:

·  Part 1: Diaspora Donors & Homeland Partnerships (Two sessions)

                    Asset Mapping & Mission Related Investing

                Networking, Recruitment & Sustainability

                Organizational Management, Teamwork, Formalizing an Association & Alternatives

                Developing your vision, networking and sustaining volunteers

·  Part 2: You and I Can Change The World (Three sessions)

                     Power & Decision-making Structures

                     Project Planning, Selection & Development

                     Proper Governance, Transparency & Accountability

                     Assessment & Evaluation

                    Stakeholder Analysis & Advocacy

·  Part 3: Making it All Work: Organizing Missions with Homeland Partners (Three sessions)

                     Technology Tools & Resources

                     Effective Fundraising Methods & Leveraging Resources

                     Partnering with Homeland Partners, Government & Businesses

                     Organizing Missions: Challenge Grant Presentation & Planning

 

TUITION, SCHOLARSHIPS & ATTENDANCE

Tuition is $599 per organization for all nine sessions! Up to three people per organization can attend and scholarships are available. Enrollment is limited to 30 participants so apply early!

Application forms must be received by Thursday, October 15, 2009.

Participants are expected to attend all sessions.

 

CHALLENGE GRANT OPPORTUNITIES

Several challenge grants of $2,500, possibly up to $5,000 for larger organizations, may be available for all groups to apply for at the end of the year’s workshops. Consideration of proposals will be contingent upon the group's having attended every session. An eligible group must match the grant with community-raised resources.

Dale Asis, Workshop Director

Dale is well known in the world of diaspora donors and social service. He earned his M.A. in Social Sciences from the University of Chicago in 2008 and has over 15 years of experience as:

·      Executive Director of the Global Coalition of Humanitarian Efforts-Philippines

·      Founding Executive Director of the Coalition of African, Arab, Asian, European and Latino Immigrants of Illinois (CAAAELII)

·     Program consultant at the Chicago Global Donors Network, organizing over 95 diaspora donors in the Chicago area

·     Recipient of the Ford Foundation Leadership for a Changing World Award

·     Fourteen-month Chicago Community Trust Fellowship for Community Leaders
